DJ Jazzy Jeff: “The Return Of The Magnificent”

-wow, this is quite a journey. Jazzy Jeff should’ve called this album “Timeless”. because you will be able to appreciate it, even it was the first HipHop record you are listening to, or if you made your way through the old school to today’s popular ways of the culture (and it’s side-effects). I started listening to HipHop in the mid-80’s and that makes this album a blessing: so many quotes, so many hints, so many tiny little things that make me appreciate this album in a very special way. listen to Raheem DeVaughn incorporating a Roots quote into his singing, listen to Twone Gabz reworking Kool Moe Dee’s “Go See The Doctor”, check out Rhymefest and Jazzy Jeff reinvent “Words I Manifest” by Gang Starr into ” Jeff N Fess”. and there’s Big Daddy Kane, CL Smooth (making us forget his pretty weak “American Dream” album), and woah, listen to words Jean Grae spits on “Supa Jean”. Kardinal Offishall, Method Man, Pos, J-Live, all of them backed by Jazzy Jeff’s deep and soulful production. and “Brand New Funk 2k7″ featuring Peedi Peedi should make all of you go out and try to get a copy of “He’s the DJ I’m The Rapper” by DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince. you may not believe it but Will Smith is an important figure in HipHop. check for yourself and check yourself. and if you don’t know, now you know…-
