Pure Essence: “Wake Up”
-another one on Soul Cal. and a nice funky Soul tune it is. maybe a little too mellow soundwise for some, but it grows on you. I am not sure if I’ll ever play it in the club, but I’ll listen to it. so I gotty keep my copy. it has a Sly Stone qualoity to it with the very loud mixed wahwah-bassline. the b-side “Third Rock” (from the sun? that would be earth) goes along in that style. and the singer sounds even more like Sly there. if yu are undecided spend your money on something else though….-
