Woody Herman: “Encore: Woody Herman – 1963″

-swingtime, baby! I bought this original LP when I saw it had a version of “Watermelon Man” (with a nice clarinet solo by Woody himself) , and it was totally worth it for that alone. the whole album was recorded during a performance in Hollywood. man, these people play damn good. very nice arrangements. it starts off with the uptempo “That’s Where It Is” and also features some mellow tunes like “Body And Soul” by Johnny Green. big band excellence!-
