– a by-chance find in a second hand section of a local record-store. I was looking for this version of “Beans And Cornbread” (as I only knew the take by Louis Jordan eversince it was featured in the Malcolm X-movie by Spike Lee), just to find out that this one was recorded in 1949. excellent rhythm & blues and already played on a few occasions. the liner notes explain that this LP is a collection of early gems by Johnny Griffin, so I will stop writing to get to know the other tracks on this album. it is always good to take a time-out to get to know your records….-
