Ahmad: “Back In The Days”
-now, I bought this by chance, actually looking for something else, only to find out that this is a great record! and a classic at that (and there goes my nerd-award as I had no clue about this tune before now). Remix, Jeep Mix and LP Version are all good with the Remix being my favourite. Ahmad is sounding like a member of the Hieroglyphics or a slightly more aggrevated Skee-Lo to me, some Internet-quotes feel he sounds kinda like Fatlip from The Pharcyde. generally , of course, we here at troublemusic.com feel that he has his very own style at that…. so if you are a fan of that soulful mid-90’s HipHop sound, this is one single you should own. and just to get my shot at that nerd-award: released in 1994, when Ahmad was just 18 years old, the single reached No. 26 in the US Billboard Hot 100 and was certified gold. The Original version features a sample of Teddy Pendergrass’ “Love TKO” and is 5:14 minutes long. nerd that-
