Torae: “For The Record”
– I already liked the rap-abillities of Torae, when he did an album with producer Marco Polo, and here he is now with his solo-effort “For The Record”. Since there was a lot of talk especially about title-track, produced by DJ Premier, I focused on that, and thought it was okay, but not that much above average. the other day, weeks after the original release, I walked into my favourite local recordstore (Boombastic Store, Bremen), just to hear it play and it changed my mind, as I heard the tracks produced by Pete Rock, Large Professor, to name two, and found the album as a whole very convincing. so I bought the last copy they had. and I am very happy with “For The Record” now-
